I DON’T SEE A FACE. Maybe you’d say.

In this picture, you can see more than just one face. Doesn’t the ghostly white and green cloud look like a grimacing face?

This technique is called Ambient Figuration.

You are supposed to see different things in different lighting environments.

Even the mood of the surroundings reveals different characters of the painting.
